CODE OF CONDUCT

Effective Date: January 1, 2026

 

Programs, Events & Community Spaces

Little Black Pearl Workshop (“LBP”) is committed to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, creative, and safe environment for all participants, staff, artists, partners, volunteers, and community members. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for behavior at all LBP-hosted programs, events, workshops, classes, meetings, and activities, whether in person or virtual.

Participation in any LBP program or event constitutes agreement to this Code of Conduct, as well as LBP’s Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

Our Community Values

LBP is guided by values of:

  • Respect and dignity for all people

  • Creativity, expression, and learning

  • Equity, inclusion, and belonging

  • Safety, care, and accountability

We expect all participants to contribute to an environment that reflects these values.

Expected Conduct

All participants are expected to:

  • Treat others with respect, kindness, and professionalism

  • Engage in activities in a safe, constructive, and collaborative manner

  • Respect differences in identity, background, beliefs, and lived experience

  • Follow instructions and guidance from LBP staff, facilitators, and event leaders

  • Use LBP spaces, equipment, and materials responsibly

  • Comply with all applicable laws, venue rules, and program guidelines

Prohibited Conduct

The following behaviors are not permitted at LBP programs or events:

  • Harassment, discrimination, or intimidation of any kind

  • Offensive, abusive, or threatening language or behavior

  • Unwanted physical contact or invasion of personal space

  • Disruptive behavior that interferes with programming or others’ participation

  • Use or distribution of illegal substances

  • Possession of weapons or dangerous objects (unless explicitly authorized)

  • Damage to property or misuse of facilities or equipment

  • Recording, photographing, or sharing content without consent where required

Youth Participation & Protection

LBP provides programs and events for youth and young people. All adults participating in youth-centered activities are expected to maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times.

  • Parents or guardians must provide consent for youth participation where required

  • Youth participants are expected to follow this Code of Conduct in an age-appropriate manner

  • Any behavior that compromises the safety or well-being of youth will be addressed immediately

LBP reserves the right to remove any individual whose behavior poses a risk to youth participants.

Photography, Video & Media Use

LBP may photograph, record video, or capture audio during programs, events, workshops, and in LBP-owned or operated public spaces. These materials may be used for marketing, communications, educational, archival, reporting, and fundraising purposes, including but not limited to use on websites, social media, printed materials, grant reports, and promotional campaigns.

By attending or participating in LBP programs or events, you grant Little Black Pearl Workshop permission to capture and use your image, likeness, voice, or statements without compensation, in accordance with this policy.

 

Children & Minors

For youth participants, media use is subject to parental or guardian consent where required. LBP takes reasonable steps to respect restrictions related to photographing or recording minors and will honor written opt-out requests when feasible.

 

Opt-Out Requests

If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, please notify an LBP staff member or event facilitator at the beginning of the program or event. While LBP cannot guarantee exclusion from all media in public settings, reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate requests.

 

Respect & Privacy

Participants may not photograph, record, or distribute images or recordings of others in ways that violate privacy, dignity, or this Code of Conduct—particularly in youth-centered or sensitive programming.

 

Privacy & Confidentiality

Participants are expected to respect the privacy of others.

  • Personal information shared during programs, workshops, or events should not be disclosed without permission

  • Photography, video, or audio recording may be limited or prohibited in certain programs, particularly those involving youth

  • Any personal data collected is handled in accordance with LBP’s Privacy Policy

 

Reporting Concerns

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it to an LBP staff member or event facilitator as soon as possible.

 

All reports will be taken seriously and addressed promptly and respectfully, to the extent possible.

 

Enforcement & Consequences

LBP reserves the right to take appropriate action in response to violations of this Code of Conduct, which may include:

  • Verbal warnings

  • Removal from a program or event without refund

  • Suspension or termination of participation

  • Denial of future access to LBP programs or spaces

  • Referral to appropriate authorities when required by law

Enforcement decisions will be made at LBP’s discretion, with the safety and well-being of the community as the priority.

Acknowledgment

By participating in Little Black Pearl Workshop programs or events, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Code of Conduct, as well as LBP’s Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
